There's a reason why people flock together to marvel at specific types art. It's artwork that stirs the emotions at the deepest levels that's the most successful and forms the deepest-rooted cult followings.
The video game series known as Silent Hill is an example of one of those marvelous works of art. There is no other game that can compare to the level of of emotional racking this phenomenal collection of games creates. Many have tried to imitate it, but none can compare to the psychological impact the combination of visuals, ambient sounds and music of this series invokes. It really is impossible to describe in words the range of emotions these games stir without playing them for yourself and being an awful writer, I'm not even going to try.
It's a shame more people don't know about this game. People love having their emotions stirred because that's all we have. Without emotions, we're not human, we're nothing. And any player of the game will tell you that these games create amazing feelings of fear, terror, horror, and anxiety-- some of the most primal and moving forms of emotions. These delicious feelings created by the dark, the silence, the silence broken by guttural inhuman somethings in the dark, these addictive emotions are so superbly created that they can sometimes overwhelm the player to the point of sheer, white-hot panic. Many times I have had the urge to just turn off the game because the emotional stress was so great, but I couldn't because I loved every second of it too much. I'm sure many Silent Hill fans can relate.
Well, being an artist, I can only help promote this wonderful series by creating artwork that doesn't even do the game justice. Luckily, there's a fanart club here at DA that keeps growing every day with young aritsts who appreciate the wonderful series of Silent Hill as much as I do, if not more so.
