In convention-related news...

Working as a full-time graphic designer doesn't leave much time for freelancing and artist alleys anymore, therefore, I'll only be attending the major cons (if I can snag tables at them).  I've already missed the opportunity to get an A-kon table (they sold out almost instantly! I'm on the waiting list though) so I may not be there this year. :(  Luckily I'll be attending Anime Expo in L.A. July 1st - 4th.

Cons List
----------------------
Here's a list of conventions where I plan on having an Artists' Alley table. If you're in the area, feel free to drop by my table where you can buy 11x17 prints for $20 or sketches for $20+. If the con has an art auction, you can also bid on large posters of my best work.

Sony Vaio Contest Results

Journal Entry: Fri Sep 19, 2008, 7:22 AM
Sweet News!

Me, My Design, and a fat check :3

Well as some of you may know, I was one of the 8 finalists in Sony's My Graphic Splash contest a few weeks back.  On 9/15 Sony announced the final 3 grand prize winners who were Amy Neal, Kristin Getchell, and myself (yay!). As the 3 finalists, we were invited to go to New York City for the 9/15 press event unveiling the winning designs where we got to meet Mike Abary-- Senior Vice President of Vaio, Lauren Conrad (of The Hills fame), and artist Maya Hayuk.  The prizes for the contest include a Sony Vaio laptop with our design on the lid and $5000 as well as the free trip to NYC to attend the press event on 9/15. I'd thought there was supposed to only be one grand prize winner, but it turned out that the 3 finalists were all grand prize winners.  So congrats to the other winners Amy :iconstarfantazy:, and Kristen :iconcre8anim8:. :)

I also wanted to say thank you, thank you, thaaaaank you! to everyone who took the time to register and vote for their favorite design and a very special thanks to everyone who voted for my design; I really do appreciate it, gang.  :)

Check out these sweet photos of the press event!

If you're interested in having me draw a custom drawing for you, then just note me or send me an email (crimsonjassic [at] yahoo.com) letting me know you're interested.  I will then add you to a waiting list and get back to you once I've added you to the current commission list below.

Please visit the DA Silent Hill fan club here:

:iconsilent-hill-club:

There's a reason why people flock together to marvel at specific types art.  It's artwork that stirs the emotions at the deepest levels that's the most successful and forms the deepest-rooted cult followings.

The video game series known as Silent Hill is an example of one of those marvelous works of art.  There is no other game that can compare to the level of of emotional racking this phenomenal collection of games creates.  Many have tried to imitate it, but none can compare to the psychological impact the combination of visuals, ambient sounds and music of this series invokes.  It really is impossible to describe in words the range of emotions these games stir without playing them for yourself and being an awful writer, I'm not even going to try.  =)

It's a shame more people don't know about this game.  People love having their emotions stirred because that's all we have.  Without emotions, we're not human, we're nothing.  And any player of the game will tell you that these games create amazing feelings of fear, terror, horror, and anxiety-- some of the most primal and moving forms of emotions.  These delicious feelings created by the dark, the silence, the silence broken by guttural inhuman somethings in the dark, these addictive emotions are so superbly created that they can sometimes overwhelm the player to the point of sheer, white-hot panic.  Many times I have had the urge to just turn off the game because the emotional stress was so great, but I couldn't because I loved every second of it too much.  I'm sure many Silent Hill fans can relate.  =)

Well, being an artist, I can only help promote this wonderful series by creating artwork that doesn't even do the game justice.  Luckily, there's a fanart club here at DA that keeps growing every day with young aritsts who appreciate the wonderful series of Silent Hill as much as I do, if not more so.

Please visit :iconsilent-hill-club: to see some really great fan artwork for this series and to help promote this magnificent work of art so that others can discover the wonders of truly magnificent fear.
