This is the final Metroid homage digital painting I did for a class project of mine. You can check out the first one here:

One Girl in All the World

And the second one here:

Norfair Depths

Here's a close-up view:

Battlescars

And really high-rez detail shot.

This one only took about 36 hours, but it's the one I'm most satisfied with out of the three images. Hope you guys like it. :)

Photoshop CS2: 36+ hours
Original size: 7200 x 10800 px
Photo ref of the beautiful Roberta Murgo used.

I was wondering if I could use this for a wallpaper I'm making? Great piece of art.

This is exactly how I pictured her. None of this anime filth reducing her character to a mannequin.

YES!!! Thank you for an awesome non-zero-suit Samus without forgetting that she is a woman. This is beautiful. New Featured Fav!

Wow- 36 hours?! Where did the most of the time go to? Don't get me wrong, that picture is badass, but I can't imagine what you went through to make this!

Another deep and insightful work that, if I may say so, points towards your entire project being rooted in an in-depth character study of Samus. You've shown us the softer side in One Girl on All the World, and now we're seeing an interpretation of the other side of her, as the Chozo Warrior. Again, your care for details and attention to the visual craft have all made your hard efforts worth it. This is a passionate, technically accomplished and wonderfully presented piece of work that does what all great Metroid art should do, i.e - remind us of just how much this chick can kick ass on an intergalactic scale!! One of the great things about that is that your skill has allowed you to play with constant elements and give them a new edge in different contexts. The Arm Cannon is still as ready to blast face-sucking Metroids as it ever was, but now your particle effects and body positioning point clearly towards it being used to deliver some good old fashioned beam-pain, and the armour, whilst damaged and showing the cracks, breaks and scuffs of combat is still glowing fiercely, still alive - that technological heart is still beating beneath all the punishment its taken, and you've managed to make it into another testament to the depth and versatility of Samus' character. Surem she's as beautiful as ever, with those feminine elements still intact (her lips and eyes are positively gorgeous), but you're careful to underscore it with a resilience to too much of that softness - her eyes are very intensely focused on her goal, her expression is stoic and determined and she won't be pushed over or submit. The armour is there as a strong reminder of that, and there's a depth in her expression that lets us know she will take the punishment and return fire whilst looking her opponent dead in the face. You've captured Samus as a warrior near-perfectly with the same zest and artistic passion as before. Your background is also nicely detailed, which is a testament both to how much you care, and how keenly you understand that every work of art is an ensemble piece. Congratulations on another superb piece of work! Thanks for sharing :)
