This is a pretty big image so click the image or "download" to view it all.

This was a project for one of my design studios where I was supposed to create a piece of artwork using light as a medium. The premise was that the piece of art could only work if it had its light source turned on.

The way I made it was I first drew up this sketch of Snake and Eva in marker on a 9x12 sheet of paper. Then I scanned it and blew it up to 16"x24", printed it out, and taped it to a blank canvas. I then placed the canvas face-down on a light table and added acrylic modeling paste to the back side of the canvas following the form of the printout which I could see through the canvas thanks to the light table. The thicker the paste was on the back, the darker it would appear on the front once backlit. It was kinda tricky, but once I got the hang of it, it wasn't too hard.

This was a pretty challenging and fun project and I was really pleased with the result. Hope you guys like it, too. ^_^

For you Aggies, this "painting" as well as other projects done by my classmates are currently on display at the Architecture College art gallery in Langford Building A. It'll be up for two weeks, I believe. So feel free to drop by and check it out in person if you like. :)

I like the concept. The texture of the acrylic modeling paste is so plane, but with the light it looks brilliant. If I lived in TX and went to TAMU, I would definately go to see it, but alas I am too far away. Great job.
